The Creation Saga: Volume I

As recorded by Falerin Ardendor the Caelestian, Lorekeeper

The following Saga is recorded as was told to me by the Drakel at K'eld Ner. It is nearly exactly the one that was recited to the Human T'Palo Jano. I am inscribing it so it may be remembered for eternity and dedicating it to the Temple of Lorithia at Deren.

In the beginning, Lorithia, the Great Creator, shaped the world of Lore into a vast land of beauty. She created the first four Elemental Lords namely Light, Darkness, Water and Earth. Light and Darkness wed, giving birth to Fire and Ice. Water was wed to Earth and their children are Energy and Wind.* Lorithia looked at her brethren and felt lonely. In a moment of weakness and loneliness, she took on a human form and visited Lore. In her mortal form, she became aware of the suffering of the people. One day, she visited a village and saw The'Galin for the first time. A beautiful and gentle man, he was tormented by his weakness and his inability to save the people. After his village was nearly destroyed, he set up an orphanage to take in lost and homeless children. Lorithia was moved by his actions and kindness. The house in which Lorithia was staying caught fire and all of the residents were left without a home. The'Galin took them in without reservation and tended to their needs. Seeing The'Galin up close for weeks on end only served to inflame Lorithia's love for him and finally in a moment of weakness she had revealed herself to him. She imbued of herself the energy of the gods to The'Galin so that the two were of one power.

The'Galin became greatly discomforted by the activity of creation. He became sure of its corruption and remembered the horrors he had seen among mortality when it lived. Yet Lorithia believed in her creation and told The'Galin that just as it had great capacity for disunity and evil it had likewise the capacity for great love and hope. The'Galin not comforted sought to cause division within creation.

He found a Silari** with great ambitions called Xilar. The'Galin trained him as a tool of his war and set him loose upon the world. Between the Drakel and the Moglin he built distrust by suggesting each sought the other's forests for their own. He turned the Githari against the land by playing on their dread of the dry height, yet none was as damaging as what he spread to his own people and to the Dragon kind. He turned the elements against each other. He claims that the Light Lord and Dark Lord are at eternal war: "The days grew shorter and nights became longer. The gods wage wars and the Dark Lord is winning." said Xilar. The people disbelieve this at first, but as winter arrives, they found out that he was right and so asked him for more.

"The rain strikes the earth and the thunder bolts fly to dry them up into vapor lest the water lord gain greater dominion," he exclaims. "And beware the war of Fire and Ice too." The people were confused as they thought that ice is merely frozen water. "Nay," said Xilar. "Mark it as the Cold Lord for if there's warmth, there is cold; don't we all build fire to drive away cold and use ice to drive away pain caused by fire?" The people knew that everything is right and began to take sides in hope of bringing prosperity. Xilar, satisfied with the situation, retreats back to his temple. . .

*Editor's note: There are numerous variations on the order of these elements and the nature of their pairings even in the Kruath'ri narrative. It is safe to assume this is an allegorical understanding of the formation of these gods by the creator and the fact that they are unified even though people who follow them are not.

**Editor's note: Silari are one of the ancient races that combined to form the modern day Drakel, from all evidence the Silari as a separate race were obliterated by his activity.
